Chelsea fans blacked out for Servette opener
Blues supporters in the UK unable to watch return to European action
Chelsea fans in the UK will not be able to watch their team’s return to European football on TV.
The Blues take on Swiss outfit Servette in the UEFA Europa Conference League play-off round on Thursday, but the game will not be shown on any UK TV channel.
Broadcast rights for the Conference League play-off round have not been bought, meaning fans will miss out on seeing Thomas Tuchel's side kick off their European campaign.
No broadcast deal in place
The Conference League is a new competition this season, and it is the third-tier European club competition, below the Champions League and the Europa League.
BT Sport has the rights to broadcast the Champions League and the Europa League in the UK, but it has not acquired the rights to the Conference League.
No other UK broadcaster has picked up the rights to the competition, meaning fans will be unable to watch Chelsea’s game against Servette on television.
